Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteers may provide clerical assistance, perform Braille transcription, read the newsletter on tape, provide transportation for clients, or read mail for clients. There is also a need for volunteers to work in our adaptive computer lab and assist participants with setting up hardware. Due to the complex nature of our training, volunteers cannot provide the actual in-home independent living training.

2.) Donate towards the Nancy B. Domanico Endowment Fund.
3.) Planned Giving: Remember Lilac in your will
4.) Inquire about your employer’s community involvement

Donate Towards Lilac’s General Fund
Your generous donations keep Lilac operating and enable us to provide many crucial services for our participants.

Donate Towards the Endowment Fund
An endowment fund has been created in loving memory of our former director Nancy B. Domanico. Many lives were touched through her generosity and service during her lifetime. As this new millennium begins, there is a continued need for generosity and service for the blind and partially sighted community. Contributing towards the Endowment Fund is a long-term investment in maintaining the high quality of services available to the blind and partially sighted of Eastern Washington.

You too can leave an enduring, uplifting impression!

Planned Giving

There are many ways to remember the Lilac Services For The Blind in your will. Please consult your estate planner, financial consultant, or attorney about the option that best meets your needs. The following information gives the very basic ways to leave assets to Lilac via your will. However, we highly recommend that you consult your financial advisor or estate planner in order to avoid unnecessary taxes, and make the best use of your assets.

Types of Gifts

Any kind of property such as securities, bonds, stocks, land leases, royalties, patents, contracts, bank accounts, and/or life insurance. All are considered tax deductible by the United States Internal Revenue Service since they are used to further the charitable purposes of the Lilac Services For The Blind.

How to Give

You may wish to bequeath insurance policies, either existing or new, by listing the Lilac Services For The Blind as the full or partial beneficiary of your policies. The advantage of life insurance is that the benefactor can be assured of a significant contribution for minimal cost of the monthly premium. Gifts can also be made during your lifetime by signifying that upon your death, the Lilac Services For The Blind be the recipient of money in a bank account, the value of stocks, or bonds, etc. Families can request that memorial contributions be made to the Lilac Services For The Blind Memorial Fund in memory of their loved one. Each of these donations is acknowledged both to the donor and to the family of the deceased member.

Inquire about your employer’s community involvement

Does your employer or association contribute to community services? There is no time like the present to inquire deeper into your employer or association’s community involvement. Most local businesses and corporations give through the United Way, provide sponsorships, or provide local matching grants. Also, many prefer to support their employees and members in the process. By mentioning or recommending the Lilac Services For The Blind as a reputable place to contribute, you may be able to initiate a new source of support for the training of the blind and partially sighted people of your community. Workplace conversations can be the easiest ways to give Lilac publicity. We believe that your opinion does matter. Please inquire into your employer and association’s community involvement policy.

Thanks to our many donors!!!
