Congratulations to the 2003 recipients
of the Nancy Domanico Award
for Distinguished Service to the Blind!
The 2003 award goes to
Julie Hensley and Bobby Grant. Ms. Hensley promotes
the independence of the blind as she openly shares at schools and
various public groups about her blindness, surviving her kidney
and pancreas transplants, and her knowledge of working with seeing
eye dogs. Her positive attitude is contagious as she works with
4-H groups, disabled children and many blind people from all over
Okanogan County and beyond.
Mr. Grant is the volunteer President of the Board of the Lions Low Vision Clinic in Spokane and he has served people through a variety of positions in the clinic for almost 30 years. In order to raise awareness of the clinic's valuable services, such as providing low vision aids, he makes presentations throughout the community. Mr. Grant also makes a difference by volunteering with multiple organizations. Through his volunteer service he fulfills his committed goal to help all persons in managing their eyesight care.
